As a third generation settler living in Calgary, I would like to take a step towards reconciliation by acknowledging the traditional territories of the people of the Treaty 7 region in Southern Alberta which includes the Blackfoot Confederacy (comprising of the Siksika, Piikani, and Kainai First Nations), the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Stoney Nakoda (including the Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Wesley First Nations. I recognize and honor the enduring connection that Indigenous peoples have with this land, its waters, and its resources. I am aware of the privilege I hold and the responsibility I have to acknowledge the ongoing impacts of colonization and work towards reconciliation.
